Verbena bonariensis. Perennial. (Tender). Full sun to part shade. Blooms summer until fall frost. 3-6 feet tall. Heirloom. Stunning plants of purple flower clusters on tall, airy branches high above the foliage. Superb cut flower; hardy, easy to grow. Rose-violet to lavender blooms at the tips of tall, strong stems create a light, airy wave of color through the flower bed. Very attractive to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Self-sows readily - a welcome volunteer! Also called tall or purpletop verbena, purpletop vervain and South American Verbena. Perennial in USDA zones 7-11; grown as an annual in cooler climates.
